Big Blue Yacht Charters was officially launched two years ago on Valentine's Day! How romantic! Owner, Emma Murdoch, having spent 12 years in the yacht industry abroad decided to create Big Blue Yacht Charters here at home to provide clients recommendations on the private, luxury, crewed charter yachts available worldwide.

Travelling the globe to attend charter shows to view the yachts and meet the Captains and crews personally, Emma has the opportunity to get a sense of the crews' style, specialties and the amenities onboard first hand. As a complimentary client service, Big Blue Yacht Charters provides expert advice on which charter yacht would be the best match available in the clients desired charter destination and then tailors the entire experience to the clients personal preferences, culinary profiles, yacht charter itinerary, activities and interests.

Chartering a yacht is fun! exciting! adventurous and is simply an outstanding experience! Emma works with her clients to really clarify what they are looking for in their charter yacht experience and manges all the details between the yacht and the client. Welcome to the Charter Set!

Big Blue arranges access to the worlds’ private luxury crewed charter yachts and works to ensure that the clients expectations are met and exceeded onboard the yacht. Big Blue also works closely with the Captain and crew to ensure they are well prepared for their guests arrival so that the time onboard is a seamless, pleasureable experience.

Starting Big Blue Yacht Charters was a culmination of many years of yacht industry experience from owning a yacht to cruising to working worldwide onboard as chef. Emma has been to many of the world’s cruising regions and brings real world knowledge and experience to her business and will provide her clients with comprehensive information on how to best indulge in the benefits of the yacht charter lifestyle.

Jenny De Jong | Lead Planner CountDown Events | Vancouver


Jenny De Jong joined the CountDown Events team one year ago, and has proven herself a talented event professional who brings a wealth of experience to the CountDown Events world.

Jenny joined CountDown Events after a six year tenure at the prestigious Vancouver Club, where she was tasked with redesigning their wedding program. Under her supervision and planning, the Vancouver Club became one of the most sought after venues in the city. During her professional career, Jenny has successfully executed numerous high-profile events for Fortune 500 companies, celebrity and international royalty. In 2010, Jenny assisted with formal engagements for the International Olympic Committee during the Vancouver Olympic Games.

Jenny’s passion for travel has taken her across the globe, instilling in her a love of culture and cuisine, and an international appreciation for all things delightful.

Jenny is an integral member of the CountDown Events team, and has already significantly contributed to the execution of some of the most spectacular events in the company’s history.

Q&A with Jenny De Jong:

What does your typical day at CountDown Events look like? Every day is completely different, and that is what I love! Most days revolve around meetings with clients and vendors - from flower meetings, sample showings with decorators, site visits, menu tastings, and more! There is no "typical" day and that is what keeps things exciting.

What do you find most challenging about your job? I'm not sure that there is one specific thing I find challenging, but I love how there is so much to learn in this industry and every day I am challenged with not only problem solving, but also creatively challenged with trying new things and pushing the envelope for our clients.

What do you find most rewarding about your job? I love seeing everything come together on the day of an event - all of the little pieces you've worked on over the last several months or year all come to fruition is so rewarding. It makes all of the late nights worth it.

What inspires you on a daily basis? I've always been inspired by travelling and exploring other cultures, art and cuisine from around the world. It inspires me to play with colours, textures and patterns and to never be afraid of trying new things.

Tented Vancouver Wedding Featured on Style Me Pretty Weddings


We are beyond thrilled that the beautiful wedding of Claire and Ben is featured on Style Me Pretty today, and we are excited to share with you even more of the swoon worthy details! The bride and groom wanted the wedding to reflect their laid back style, and with the help of Celsia Floral and Debut Event Design we were able to bring this vision to life! The wedding was photographed by the amazingly talented Kristy Ryan of Blush Wedding Photography .

The custom arch by Celsia Floral was adorned with blush and cream blooms and loose greens, adding to the relaxed feel of the day. The lake at Hart House Restaurant was the stunning backdrop to the ceremony and reception.

An olive branch was placed on each guests place setting to add a personal note.

The long tables under the dreamy chandelier lit tent added to the romantic atmosphere as the sun set over the lake.

The brides and grooms chairs were adorned with hints of blush and cream blooms tucked amidst the greenery from Celsia Floral

The cake by Peter Fong of Ganache Patisserie showcased our couples' simplistic, yet elegance style.

Chef Series with Peter Fong #chefandsoha


Being obsessed with yummy food and delicious treats, we have recently started a cooking and baking series with some of our favourite chefs. We were thrilled to be invited into the kitchen of master pastry chef Peter Fong of Ganache Patisserie as part of this series. Soha spent the morning with Peter learning how to create one of her all-time favourite dishes - Vegan Raspberry-Chocolate Truffle Cake. "I feel the most at home when I am making something delicious for my friends and family. I think I learned that from my Mother. She would singlehandedly make lavish dinners for 30+ friends as my family entertained almost every weekend as I was growing up. She always did it with so much creativity and love. Her dishes not only looked good but tasted even more delicious. I was always proud...barely reaching over the table of the feast she could prepare without using any recipe books... like ever!" - Soha

We started off with only the best ingredients, as Peter uses top quality chocolate in all of his pastry creations. Layer by layer, the masterpiece began to take shape. The first layer was a dense chocolate cake, which was smothered in a crunchy chocolate filling. (This layer was our favourite!) Peter and Soha then piped pearls of chocolate ganache on top of the chocolate crunch. For Peter, this was a piece of cake ;) This layering process was then repeated to form the second layer of the cake. By this point, our mouths were watering.

The work of art rested on the Orrefors - Intermezzo Blue, Footed Cake Plate and the slice of cake was displayed on a Hermes - Bleu D’ailleurs next to a Sambonet- Bamboo, Dessert Fork, both from Atkinsons of Vancouver

Thank you Peter once again for inviting us into your kitchen! (And we will never say no to cake for breakfast!) It was such a pleasure to see what goes into making one of your works of art, and to see the love and passion that it put into each piece.
